I have copied music from personal CD's onto my mac in Apple Music and sync'ed the music via cable with my iPhone since (not purchased via Apple Music). Certain songs will initially show up but when you go to play them they "disappear" and the playlist progresses to the next song and that particular song is no longer in the playlist. I would then sync with the cable again and the song would reappear in the playlist. The strange part is that the song will actually play on the iPhone as long as the sync cable is connected, but as soon as I disconnect the cable and try to play the song again on the iPhone it disappears again. I also sometime get an error message that the song is not authorized for this region but it plays perfectly fine on my mac and on my iPhone after I resync'ed with the cable. I do not have an Apple Music+ subscription and 99+% of my music is ripped from CD's and stored in Apple Music on my mac. Can you please tell me what I am doing wrong? Thanks!

  • Certain songs downloaded to iPhone won't play, instead prompt to join Apple MusicI have an old iPhone 6 I have set up as a music player. A few songs won't play - when I try to play them, it instead prompts me to join Apple Music. These songs were previously purchased from the iTunes Store but the files have been downloaded to a Mac and synced onto the iPhone using Finder. The phone is signed into iCloud using the same account that purchased the songs. I have many other songs previously purchased from the iTunes Store on this phone that do not exhibit this behaviour and play just fine. The songs play fine on the Mac from which they are synced.I have tried deleting the songs off the phone and re-syncing them from the Mac.I have tried deleting the songs off the phone and re-downloading from the iTunes Store - this does not work because it registers that the song has been previously purchased. There is not even the option to re-download the song from the cloud as a previously purchased song. What else could I try? 5173
  • iTunes Music on PC syncs to Ipod mini but not to iPadI have 1,200+ songs on my PC version of iTunes, most of which were loaded from music CDs over the years. Some are purchased from Apple. I've been syncing to my iPod mini for years without problems.Recently, I connected my iPad by cable to the PC and synced up for the first time. The full library came through, but I got a small list of errors for songs that are "not authorized." I deselected those and ran sync again, but instead of a slightly reduced set of songs, the iPad showed 2,400 songs, half of which were duplicate titles. Worse yet, it turned out that nearly all of my songs had not actually downloaded but were empty except for the title. When I tried to play them, an error box displayed, saying the song was "not authorized for my region/country," or some such. There did not appear to be any easy way to correct the situation, so I deleted the Music app on the iPad and downloaded a new copy. The new app copy did not make things better; it's just a new flavor of bad. The region/country warning is gone, probably because the sync process only syncs items purchased from Apple. The other 95% are absent. I cannot find a workaround. iTunes and OS versions on both devices are current. I have iCloud available on both devices, but it's unclear if it can be used to help.I've tried converting some test cases on the PC side to .mp3's etc., but it makes no difference.I'd really like to solve this. 2743
  • With new Apple Music app (and Monterey OS), I can no longer sync my iphone to songs that are stored on my NAS. The sync menu only shows songs ripped in the last month. Will iTunes Match solve this? I already subscribe to Apple Music.I have a pretty large collection of songs that I’ve ripped from my cd collection sitting on a Network Attached Server. It always used to be pretty simple to synch my (or Pat’s) iPhone and choose songs to add to it so that I can listen when my phone is off-line. Now with the new OS and Apple Music (instead of iTunes) when I go to synch the phone (in finder now) it only shows a small fraction of my collection (the cd’s I just ripped last month) everything else is not available. I can see that the songs are there (in finder), but the synching protocol won’t show it. Plus, when I go to simply play one of my tunes on Apple Music, many of the songs are greyed out, but that’s a different issue, I think..I’ve done a lot of searching for the answer to this synch problem and it seems I have to now pay Apple $25 per year for an app called “iTunes Match” and that will unlock all of my own music. Is that really true? Do any of you have advice for me? Is there a simpler/cheaper way? I already pay Apple $10 per month for Apple Music, but that seems more like part of the problem than part of the solution. Thanks. 5792

All my music that is ripped from CD's are automatically saved in Music -> Library on my macOS computer.
